Venus de Milo
The Venus de Milo is one of the most famous female figures in the Louvre, alongside the Mona Lisa and The Winged Victory of Samothrace. Found on the Greek island of Melos in 1820, she now resides in Room 344, Sully Wing, Left 0 of the museum. Her lack of arms has led to much debate about her identity: is she the sea goddess Amphitrite or Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty?.
